Role Summary

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a field-based role responsible for driving demand and adoption of Bristol Myers Squibb medicines within a defined territory by engaging Health Care Providers with a scientifically rigorous, compliant customer experience. The TAS builds credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians/HCPs, collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality customer service, and spends 100% of time in the field with external customers. The role prioritizes safe and appropriate use of BMS products while achieving business results and performance objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Promotion
    Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner. Creates demand by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for product use in appropriate patients. Maintains a high level of scientific expertise across assigned products and therapeutic areas. Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans. Uses tools to inform call plans and provides feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue
    Demonstrates scientific expertise and uses approved resources to present information to HCPs with medical accuracy. Conducts in-office presentations and discusses product-related scientific information consistent with label. Organizes external speaker programs and manages logistics. Maintains awareness of emerging data for approved indications. Coordinates with Medical on Call for real-time support.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Collaborates with other field teams to ensure optimal Customer Experience. Shares insights with appropriate stakeholders to enhance service to customers. Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies governing BMS conduct.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales / MSL / HCP / nurse (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians serve their patients.
  • Demonstrated credibility with key customers and office staff via a customer-centric mindset to deliver differentiated Customer Experience.
  • Experience in Neurology (preferred).
  • Strong account management skills, excellent selling competencies, and a track record of meeting/exceeding goals.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive team mindset and a can-do attitude.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills with a proven performance history.
