Role Summary

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist, Cardiovascular Community (Poughkeepsie, NY) is a field-based role focused on driving demand for BMS medicines within the assigned portfolio and delivering a high-quality, scientifically grounded engagement with health care providers to support appropriate patient use. The TAS builds credibility with RTLs and community-based physicians/HCPs, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and prioritizes safe and appropriate product use while achieving business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Creates demand by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for product use in appropriate patients.
  • Maintains and expands scientific expertise across assigned products and therapeutic areas; prepares comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Uses tools (e.g., CE^3) to derive insights and inform call plans; provides feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Delivers fair and balanced scientific dialogue with HCPs; conducts in-office presentations and organizes external speaker programs as appropriate.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging data for approved indications; provides real-time medical support through Medical on Call as needed.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to enhance customer experience and shares insights with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing roles.
  • Ability to communicate scientific data accurately and convincingly; experience building credibility with customers.
  • Cardiovascular experience preferred; strong account management and sales performance history.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive, collaborative mindset.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills; proven track record of meeting/exceeding goals.

  • Customer/commercial mindset; ability to drive business results and tailor engagement along the patient care journey.
  • Analytical capability to interpret data, segment HCPs, and inform call planning.
  • Digital agility with CE^3 and CRM tools; proficiency with multiple digital communication channels.
  • Strong scientific agility, communication, and presentation skills; learning mindset to stay current with data.
  • Teamwork and enterprise mindset; integrity and sound judgment in line with company policies.

Education

  • Advanced scientific degree preferred; otherwise equivalent pharmaceutical/biotech experience.

  • Requires operation of a Company-provided vehicle; must meet Qualified Driver criteria (age 21+, valid license, acceptable driving risk).
