Role Summary

Senior Specialty Representative, Rheumatology - Lafayette, LA. Field-based role covering Lafayette, Shreveport, Beaumont, Monroe, Alexandria and surrounding areas. Role focuses on executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long term sales performance while adhering to AbbVie's code of conduct and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, market landscape, competitors, and product knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent experience: at least five years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree; three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; able to operate in a matrix environment; innovative problem-solving.
  • Proven track record in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and anticipate changes.
  • Influences others and is a credible, respected role model; builds partnerships across district and matrix teams; demonstrates positive behaviors and coaching.
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; applicant is responsible for satisfying all requirements; AbbVie provides resources to assist.
