Senior Specialist Payroll, Reporting & Systems SME

The Position
- Act as a subject matter expert providing technical/analytical accounting, taxation, and reporting support to Payroll for Novo Nordisk Inc. and supported affiliates.
- Coordinate payroll-related accounting, taxation, budgeting, and reconciliations to ensure compliance with company policy, GAAP, and applicable regulations.
- Support end-to-end payroll preparation/processing, tax reporting, payroll systems maintenance/controls, and resolution of complex payroll issues.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Process biweekly and off-cycle payroll accurately and on time (adjustments, disability payments, vendor file integrations).
- Maintain payroll compliance with company policies, SOX controls, and federal/state/local (and where applicable international) regulations.
- Manage payroll tax, accounting, and general ledger activities (reconciliations, journal entries, cash activity, budget oversight).
- Prepare dashboards/reports/analyses for audits and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with HR, Finance, Benefits, vendors, and business leaders to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Oversee payroll files/records retention; support year-end/quarter-end reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in accounting/business/related field (or equivalent payroll certification/experience); advanced degree a plus.
- 6+ years progressively responsible payroll experience (8+ years preferred for payroll accounting/tax roles).
- CPP strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Working knowledge of payroll systems/integrations (e.g., ADP) and HR/Finance interfaces.
- Knowledge of payroll/tax laws (e.g., FLSA, ERISA, federal/state/local tax).
