Position Summary
- Senior-level engineering for Carisβs clinical software portfolio, including product delivery, reliability, and modernization of production systems supporting regulated clinical workflows.
- Deliver report generation and template capabilities for clinical result documents (report types, template enhancements, rendering-pipeline improvements) with reliability, traceability, and change-control discipline.
- Create/extend characterization tests and validation evidence (e.g., golden-master replay) to capture current behavior as repeatable validation.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain features/components with well-structured, testable, documented code for regulated production.
- Lead and contribute to architecture/design discussions; communicate technical trade-offs.
- Perform peer code reviews and uphold standards for correctness, performance, and compliance.
- Partner with product management to refine requirements, identify constraints, and estimate backlog items.
- Maintain technical records (design docs, architecture decision records, runbooks) aligned with SOX and FDA change control.
- Instrument, monitor, and support production systems; participate in incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Build automated test coverage (unit, integration, end-to-end).
- Automate recurring engineering/operational work.
- Mentor engineers via code review, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
- Advocate for technical-debt remediation to improve reliability/maintainability/compliance.
- Work AI-first using AI coding assistants and agentic workflows, with peer/engineering review as quality gate.
Required Qualifications
- BS in CS/Software Eng or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years professional software engineering in production systems.
- Hands-on full SDLC (requirements, design, implementation, testing, release).
- Experience writing/maintaining automated tests (unit/integration/e2e).
- Strong code review fluency and engineering standards.
- Hands-on AI coding assistants/agentic development in real work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare/clinical laboratory/diagnostics/life sciences software experience.
- Agile tooling/framework familiarity.
- Cloud-native development/deployment patterns.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and explain architecture to technical/non-technical audiences.
- Experience mentoring through code review/pairing/knowledge sharing.
- Analytical/problem-solving skills in regulated systems.
- Experience with FDA, SOX, CLIA, or HIPAA (preferred).
