Role Summary

Senior Scientist, Viral Vaccines. Lead design and execution of immunoassays to support preclinical and clinical development of mRNA and protein-based viral vaccines. Contribute to assay development, data analysis, and presentation of results to advance vaccine programs.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and perform assays to analyze immune responses to vaccine candidates, including cell culture, neutralization assays, Luminex, and ELISAs in BSL-2 environments.
  • Develop and optimize new or current assays to improve work efficiency.
  • Apply technical skills to complete projects independently and proactively.
  • Perform data analysis, summarize and interpret experimental results, present at team meetings, and write research reports to support regulatory submissions.
  • Review scientific and technical literature to stay current and bring new technologies to the laboratory.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks in compliance with policy; stay current on departmental and corporate training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must-Have: PhD with 0+ years' experience in Immunology, Virology, Biology or related field in pre-clinical research, or bachelor's with 8+ years or Master's with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with immunoassays (neutralization, Luminex, ELISA) and data interpretation.
  • Strong background in immunology and virology; experience in assay development.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and presentation software (Excel, GraphPad Prism, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software).
  • Strong motivation and dedicated work ethic; excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-Have

  • Advanced experience with Bravo Automated Liquid Handling Platform; independent experimental design.
  • Knowledge of Luminex technology and molecular biology techniques; advanced Excel skills.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Basic laboratory training in aseptic technique; ability to work with infectious agents safely.
  • Standard lab conditions; ability to stand and reach within laboratory equipment.
  • Math skills for basic laboratory calculations.
