Senior Scientist, Engineering (Chemical Commercialization Technology)
Responsibilities:
- Develop safe, robust manufacturing processes for late-stage small molecule pipeline projects via process characterization, technology transfer, validation, filing, and supply support.
- Apply Quality Risk Management methodologies and statistical Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Conduct hands-on experimentation at lab bench and kilo lab scales.
- Transfer technologies to commercial manufacturing facilities.
- Follow cGMP; participate in risk assessments, deviation investigations, and Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
Qualifications:
- Education: BS and/or MS with 5+ years relevant experience, or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
- Required experience: Chemical process development; develop and execute experimental programs addressing process design, robustness, and productivity.
- Required skills: Communication/collaboration; organizational and time management; operate within cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
- Lab-based small molecule drug substance development (e.g., chemical reactions, work-up, crystallization).
- Regulatory file authoring; validation planning/execution.
- Guiding internal/external technical discussions; statistical tools.
- Scale-up and technology transfer (lab to pilot plant/factory).
- cGMP experience in pharmaceutical drug substance/product development/production.
- Mathematical modeling/theoretical scaling; Quality by Design.
Required skills: cGMP, chemical engineering/manufacturing/processes, chromatographic techniques, DOE, process characterization/scale-up, reaction engineering, small molecule synthesis, technology transfer.
