Main Responsibilities:
- Develop, calibrate, and validate bioreactor dynamic models to simulate, optimize, and control recombinant protein production and product quality attributes.
- Transfer and deploy bioreactor models in commercial manufacturing for process monitoring/forecasting (digital shadows) and/or real-time optimization/control (digital twins).
- Collaborate in matrix teams with cell-culture development, process development, analytical, automation, and data science across R&D and Manufacturing.
- Communicate model assumptions, uncertainty, limitations, and process interpretation to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain reproducible computational workflows (coding, documentation, version control, data-management).
- Drive adoption of process modeling in established cell culture process development workflows.
- Document progress against deliverables via presentations, reports, and (as appropriate) publications.

Qualifications:
- PhD in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Process Systems Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field; OR Master’s in those fields.
- Experience: PhD—min 1 year; Master’s—min 4 years (industry or research).
- Demonstrated experience developing dynamic models of bioreactor/cell culture processes.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, Julia, or R.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Dynamic mechanistic modeling (ODEs, kinetic rate laws, mass balances, parameter estimation, validation).
- Mammalian fed-batch/perfusion bioreactor understanding.
- Experience with bioreactor digital twins, advanced monitoring tools.
- Bioreactor engineering principles (oxygen transfer, mixing, mass transfer, COâ‚‚ stripping, kLa, shear, scale-up/down).
- Perfusion modeling (cell retention, bleed, media exchange, residence time, productivity, steady-state).
- Multivariate monitoring (PCA/PLS), soft sensors/state estimation/Kalman filtering/MHE/MPC.
- Peer-reviewed publications and global team experience.

Benefits (if applicable per posting):
- Health and wellbeing benefits, healthcare, prevention/wellness programs, and at least 14 weeks’ gender-neutral parental leave.
