Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and implement cellular screening assays for antibody-based biologics in immortalized and primary cells to identify and characterize lead candidates.
- Develop and execute mechanistic assays for modalities such as T cell engagers, ADCs, multi-specifics, agonists/antagonists.
- Generate cell lines or use commercial sources to build functional screening assays (reporter assays, AlphaLISA, flow- or imaging-based effector function readouts, co-culture systems).
- Characterize protein reagents for use as targets or assay components (biochemical or cell-based methods).
- Support target ideation and hypothesis generation for target validation.
- Identify new technologies and process improvements using automation and AI/ML to enhance screening and data analysis.
- Act as Discovery Biotherapeutics assay representative on matrixed, multi-disciplinary teams; define screening strategy and present data.
- Document experiments in Electronic Notebook and upload data into Benchling.
Qualifications / Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- BS with 7+ years, MS with 5+ years, or PhD with 2+ years academic/industry experience.
- Molecular/cell biology background with specialization in immunology or oncology (preferred).
- Strong technical ability to design, execute, and interpret immunology/cancer functional characterization assays.
- Hands-on cellular assay development with diverse readouts; antibodies/biologics required; TCEs and/or ADCs preferred.
- Flow cytometry and Incucyte or imaging experience required.
- Automation/assay miniaturization desirable; GraphPad Prism/Spotfire plus.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, technical, and communication skills; urgency and ability to manage multiple projects; mentor junior scientists.
