Role Summary

Senior Scientist in In Vivo Pharmacology within the Inflammation Research department. Design and execute experiments to understand pharmacology of drug targets, generate preclinical data to support project progression, and provide technical expertise to therapeutic area scientists. Potential to manage up to one report and collaborate with teams across Amgen sites.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct in vivo pharmacology experiments to support inflammation/autoimmune/rare disease programs.
  • Generate, communicate, and interpret pharmacology and preclinical data to support project progression.
  • Provide technical expertise to therapeutic area scientists and project teams.
  • Contribute to team efforts in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Possibly manage one report initially and collaborate across multiple Amgen sites.

Qualifications

  • Basic qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree OR
    • Masterโ€™s degree with 2 years of drug discovery experience OR
    • Bachelorโ€™s degree with 4 years of drug discovery experience
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • PhD with post-doctoral training or relevant drug discovery experience; 3โ€“5 years of management experience in industry or academia.
    • Experience leading in vivo contributions on project teams.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of immunology and inflammation biology.
  • Hands-on expertise in animal handling and in vivo techniques (e.g., various administration routes, bleeds, necropsy).
  • Experience with in vivo preclinical inflammation and autoimmune disease models.
  • Experience with colitis, lupus, arthritis, GvHD models; HS, PBC a plus.
  • Experience with cellular, biochemical, histological, and molecular biology assays (ELISA, MSD, qRT-PCR, BCA).
  • Multicolor flow cytometry including spectral flow and immune cell populations.
  • Proficiency with GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Attention to detail, organization, communication, and data analysis skills.
  • Independent critical thinking and scientific achievement; ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented environment.
