Role Summary
Senior Project Manager, Global Engineering – BeOne Medicines Ltd. The role requires rich technical experience in construction project management for pharmaceutical production facilities and the ability to manage capital projects at BeOne sites on time, on budget, and with quality. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to coordinate and drive projects forward, including greenfield and renovations of laboratory, office, manufacturing, utilities, and site infrastructure. Reports to the Head of Global Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Partner with key customers and stakeholders to develop capital projects that support business objectives.
- Serve as a liaison to outside engineering and construction firms for capital projects.
- Manage capital project governance and ensure global CAPEX projects are executed per procedure.
- Work with project teams to deliver capital projects meeting defined quality, budget, and schedule.
- Engage with project steering committees and teams, coordinating meetings, driving key decisions, and monitoring progress.
- Provide guidance to Engineering Project Managers across the project lifecycle (initiation, design, construction, commissioning/qualification, closeout).
- Identify and communicate project risks, develop risk plans, manage risk response strategies, and facilitate escalations to leadership.
- Coordinate with Quality, Finance, Procurement, EH&S and other support departments.
- Ensure delivery methodologies, processes, and tools are utilized to achieve project goals; continuously improve processes.
- Monitor project progress, performance, and budget spendings, providing early warnings for deviations.
Qualifications
- BS in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) required; minimum 7 years in engineering project management, or 6+ years with Masters, or 4+ years with PhD/JD; MBA and/or PMP certification highly desirable.
- Special knowledge: biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical processes and facility design; solid understanding of cGMP requirements.
- General knowledge: building codes and regulations, design and construction methodology (process/mechanical), project management methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management tools and activities (process, organization, cost, change control, time, schedule, procurement, outsourcing, contracting, qualification/validation).
- Experience in engineering project management within a global engineering department of a major pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturer.
- Ability to solicit input, maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, collaborative communication, and leadership in project management.
- Alternate background: design and engineering management with a commercial engineering firm specializing in pharmaceutical projects.
- Periodic extensive travel may be required.
- Team-oriented, results driven, ethical, strategic thinker with leadership and change management capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; fluency in English; bilingual Chinese desirable.
