Role Summary
Senior Project Manager, Global Engineering βΓΓ¬ BeOne Medicines Ltd. (formerly BeiGene) seeks a highly motivated professional to lead capital projects for pharmaceutical production facilities, delivering on time, on budget, and to quality standards. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive projects forward across greenfield and renovation initiatives, reporting to the Head of Global Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Partner with key customers and stakeholders to develop capital projects that support business objectives.
- Serve as a liaison to outside engineering and construction firms for capital projects.
- Manage the capital project governance manual and ensure global CAPEX projects are executed per procedure.
- Collaborate with project teams to deliver capital projects meeting defined quality, budget, and schedule.
- Engage with project steering committees and teams to coordinate meetings, drive decisions, and monitor progress.
- Provide guidance to Engineering Project Managers across the project lifecycle (initiation, design, construction, commissioning/qualification, closeout).
- Identify and communicate project risks, develop risk plans, and manage risk responses; facilitate escalations as needed.
- Coordinate with Quality, Finance, Procurement, EH&S and other support departments.
- Ensure delivery methodologies, processes, and tools are used to achieve project goals; continuously improve processes.
- Monitor project progress, performance, and budget spendings, providing early warnings of deviations.
Qualifications
- Required: BS in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) with minimum 7 years of engineering project management experience, or 6+ years with a Masters, or 4+ years with a PhD/JD; MBA and/or PMP certification highly desirable.
- Special knowledge: biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical processes and facility design; solid understanding of cGMP.
- General knowledge: building codes/regulations, basic design and construction methodology (process and mechanical), and project management methodologies.
- Strong skills in project management tools and activities (process, organization, cost, change control, time, schedule, procurement, outsourcing, contracting, qualification/validation).
- Experience in engineering project management within a global engineering department for a major pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturer preferred.
- Ability to solicit input, maintain relationships with stakeholders, and lead through collaboration.
- Demonstrated leadership in project management and team development.
- Alternate background: design and engineering management with a commercial engineering firm specializing in pharmaceutical projects.
- Periodic extensive travel may be required.
- Excellent written and oral communication; fluent in English; bilingual in Chinese desirable.
