Role Summary

Senior Process Operator (2nd Shift) at Zebulon, USA - North Carolina. Operates, challenges and cleans equipment according to SOPs, JSAs, and batch documents to deliver high quality products safely. Monitors equipment for excessive rejects and performs duties in compliance with regulatory and OSHA requirements. Includes changeovers and setups to design specifications and SAP changeover tasks. Recognized as SME for systems interaction and operations, proficient in SOPs, JSAs, and OSW for relevant area documents. Leads the creation of standards/systems to increase business results.

Responsibilities

  • Operates, challenges, replenishes consumable supplies, cleans equipment, and performs all duties in accordance with cGMPs, Batch Documentation, SOPs, ZSPs and JSAs; maintains inspection readiness of area with minimal supervision.
  • Monitors equipment for excessive rejects/stoppages and escalates problems affecting product quality, safety, or line performance using performance data.
  • Trained in GSK Production System standards (5s, standard work, problem solving, Gemba, process confirmations, performance management) toward Zero Accidents, Zero Defects, Zero Waste.
  • Participates in performance management entry, steps 1-3 of problem solving, and maintains OSW and 5S.
  • Delivers against safety, quality, waste, and performance objectives; identifies and recommends areas for process improvement or alternative methods to increase efficiency.
  • Recognized as an expert on operations/process; troubleshoots and resolves minor production stoppages.
  • Maintains high-quality and high-quantity output; knowledgeable about the job and reliable.
  • Utilizes systems/applications (e.g., DELTA, my Learning, Free Weigh, DISY, Active Plant, IP21, SAP basic transactions).
  • Collaborates with associates, assistants, and technicians to troubleshoot technical issues and provide information to supervision.
  • Describes technological theory of operation, product flow through equipment, and identifies functions of sensors and related components.
  • Conducts equipment setup/changeovers and start-of-batch activities to designed specifications; certifies on multiple technologies as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years' experience in Production Operator role
  • 3+ years' experience working at GSK
  • OJT certified in all work centers in packaging or majority of work centers in manufacturing
  • Demonstrated performance in all Process Operator job roles
  • Preferred: Associate degree or equivalent education
  • Preferred: Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills
  • Preferred: Basic computer skills; MS Word and MS Excel
  • Preferred: Ability to work accurately with figures and information; data analysis capabilities
  • Preferred: Mechanical aptitude; ability to read gauges/instrumentation; familiarity with equipment used in medical devices/pharmaceuticals
  • Preferred: Strong attention to detail; ability to follow detailed documentation
  • Preferred: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Skills

  • Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Associate degree or equivalent (preferred)

Additional Requirements

  • Physical requirements include climbing, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, standing, lifting up to 40 lbs, and working in a manufacturing environment with protective gear; may require overtime and long shifts up to 12.5 hours
  • On-site role with temperature-controlled environment and protective gear; diesel/chemical exposure considerations per role
