Role Summary

Senior Principal Stem Cell Research Scientist, Endocrinology. The role is self-reliant with a proven record of leading others in a matrix environment and independently solving complex problems using sophisticated scientific methods across diverse projects. Reports to the Distinguished Fellow in charge of the Cell and Gene Therapy Research Discovery Team. Focuses on advancing innovative processes and methodologies to influence research strategies in the Type 1 Diabetes space, with expertise in molecular and cellular biology of endocrinology.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and performs sophisticated, complex experiments that impact department and critical Type 1 Diabetes program goals.
  • Provide input and contribute to global Therapeutic Area strategic imperatives.
  • Contribute to medical interpretation of data for assigned product(s).
  • Generate hypotheses and promote new experimental approaches and data analysis methods.
  • Make data-driven conclusions and identify implications for findings.
  • Develop novel solutions using depth in scientific discipline; advise other team members on creative solutions.
  • Perform advanced experimental troubleshooting and methods development; mentor other team members on projects outside own area.
  • Support development of Study Protocols, Life Cycle Management Plans, and other key study documents with limited guidance.
  • Make substantive contributions to critical project activities and scientific strategies within the discipline.
  • Import new principles from other fields to establish progress.
  • Support strategic alignment of program/product; cross-functional collaboration with key functions.
  • Provide medical input and guidance to Early Access Programs and IND requests; may assist in regulatory document preparation.
  • Potential to generate external peer-reviewed materials.
  • Provide in-depth technical advice and develop theoretical premises for issues within own area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Specialized depth of knowledge in endocrinology and methods for enabling Type 1 Diabetes research.
  • Ability to mentor others to execute technically challenging experiments that impact projects.
  • Ability to identify and leverage new productive experimental paths.
  • Demonstrated initiative to advance projects through scientific creativity and insights.
  • Experience with high-value project tasks/problems.
  • Strong persistence and determination in supporting projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for advanced technical documents and diverse audiences.
  • Values teamwork and collaboration to solve problems and design strategies.

Education

  • PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, endocrinology, or related disciplines with 6 years of experience in analysis of research data and publications.
  • MD (Preferred).
