Position Overview:
Senior/Principal Scientist, ADC Conjugation Process Development to optimize critical conjugation and purification process parameters for ADC Drug Substance (DS) development; coordinate scale-up from milligram to multi-gram (including tox/GMP) and support clinical/commercial-stage manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Execute ADC Conjugation Process Development strategies (DOE and OFAT) for critical reaction parameters.
- Scale ADC batches from milligram to >100 g to support PD optimization, analytics/formulation, DS/DP stability, and in vivo/GLP tox (IND and BLA).
- Lead multi-gram purification optimization for antibody intermediates and ADCs (UF/DF; preparative chromatography/other as needed).
- Serve as ADC DS SME for internal CMC teams and external CDMO GMP partners; occasional travel to advise/oversee processes.
- Author/review SOPs, protocols, and reports for tech transfers, GMP activities, and regulatory submissions.
- Stay current with ADC DS innovations and regulatory requirements.
- Lead/support Module 3 regulatory sections (IND, IMPD, BLA) and respond to information requests as needed.
Qualifications:
- BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years biotech/biopharma (PhD), 8+ years (MS), or 10+ years (BS); ADC/conjugation or bioconjugation process development required.
- Demonstrated success developing/scaling ADC conjugation technologies with varied linker-payloads and antibody intermediates.
- Experience with tech transfer and CDMO engagement (development and GMP) plus cross-functional coordination.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong ADC conjugation/purification/analytical/characterization expertise.
- Multi-gram TFF for removal of unreacted payloads and DS formulation.
- Analytical methods: SEC, HIC, RP U/HPLC; LC-MS, icIEF, CE-SDS.
- GMP/regulatory knowledge; experience supporting IND/INDa/BLA.
- Multi-project management and strong collaboration/communication.
Washington State Pay Range: $146,000 - $188,000 USD
