Responsibilities:
- Provide automation engineering support for operating areas and/or capital projects at the Lilly Medicine Foundry (Foundry).
- Ensure reliable and compliant control applications/systems are used in manufacturing; mentor and improve team productivity.
- Act as key technical expert to influence/implement process control technical agenda, business priorities, and compliance objectives.
- Lead technical work: functional requirements, design specifications, DCS application software, test specifications; lead/participate in design reviews and FATs.
- Own site-wide administration strategy for Laboratory/Analytical equipment (user access, data management/integration to PI/DCS, backup/restore), supervise third-party implementation, set configuration standards.
- Partner on Empower, LIMS (LabVantage), MES, and ELN integration touchpoints.
- Lead analytical systems support engineers and automation engineers (commissioning support).
- Develop automation project plan; provide status updates to project management.
- Create functional requirements/process control strategies; perform DCS design/coding/config/testing; design/tune/troubleshoot control loops.
- Support electronic systems (e.g., plant historians), maintain validated control systems (validation strategy and documentation), support automation for capital projects/new product introductions.

Qualifications (required):
- B.S. in Engineering or Science + 8+ years in biopharma engineering/operations/manufacturing.
- Automation engineering experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing with laboratory/analytical systems and systems integration.
- Commissioning/qualifying/support experience for analytical and automation-controlled equipment (e.g., cell counters, UHPLC/chromatography, mass spectrometers, single-use bioreactors, RX-10, Rockwell PLC-controlled autoclaves/parts washers).
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly does not sponsor visas/work authorization.

Additional preferences:
- Experience designing/developing/commissioning/qualifying greenfield automated manufacturing sites using SCADA, DCS, MES, LIMS, and site historian systems.
- Ability to facilitate/drive organizational-level decision-making.
