Position Summary:
Senior Payroll/GL Accountant (Finance). Own the payroll process, serve as primary point of contact for payroll and payroll tax matters, and streamline accounting operations.

Job Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end semi-monthly payroll process for U.S.-based employees via ADP TotalSource; coordinate EMEA payroll with an international payroll provider
- Process off-cycle payroll, including taxable event reporting for equity transactions (RSU vesting, stock option exercises, ESPP)
- Monitor and resolve payroll tax issues to ensure accurate withholding, reporting, and compliance across jurisdictions
- Strengthen internal controls surrounding payroll to maintain SOX compliance
- Prepare monthly payroll journal entries, including department/time allocation to ensure accurate payroll cost distribution
- Support monthly period-end close by reconciling payroll-related balance sheet accounts
- Review employee expense report coding in Ramp prior to synchronization with NetSuite
- Partner with Finance and HR to support payroll and monthly close; implement efficiency and accuracy improvements
- Support GL tasks (cash journal entries, bank account reconciliations, as needed)
- Coordinate and provide PBC documentation to external auditors for SOX testing and quarterly/annual financial audits

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration (accounting concentration)
- 5+ years relevant accounting experience; direct payroll ownership preferred
- Hands-on experience with ADP TotalSource and NetSuite
- Strong payroll tax knowledge (multi-state withholding, equity compensation taxation, W-2/941s)
- Experience with Equity Edge Online and equity reporting/payroll tax compliance
- Proficient in US GAAP; experience supporting month-end close and account reconciliations
- Familiarity with SOX compliance; advanced Excel skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, proactive; strong cross-functional communication

Travel Required:
- Primarily San Francisco Bay Area; little to no travel
