Senior Payroll GL Accountant

Role: Senior Payroll/GL Accountant responsible for overseeing payroll and general ledger operations within a biopharma company focused on innovative small molecule treatments for chronic diseases. Responsibilities: manage end-to-end payroll processing for US employees via ADP TotalSource and coordinate international payroll; handle off-cycle payroll and equity-related taxable events; ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and SOX controls; prepare payroll journal entries and support month-end close; review employee expense reports; collaborate with Finance and HR teams to enhance processes; support GL tasks and audit documentation. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; 5+ years of relevant experience, with direct payroll ownership preferred; proficiency with ADP TotalSource, NetSuite, and equity reporting tools; comprehensive knowledge of US payroll tax regulations, GAAP, and SOX compliance; advanced Excel skills; organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative. High-Value: experience supporting payroll in a high-growth biopharma context, multi-state payroll and equity compensation, SOX compliance, US GAAP, and familiarity with audit processes. WorkSetup: primarily based in the San Francisco Bay Area with minimal travel.
