Senior Patent Agent

Role: Senior Patent Agent supporting IDEAYA's small molecule oncology portfolio by managing patent preparation and prosecution globally. Responsibilities include developing patent strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify patentable inventions, conducting freedom-to-operate and IP landscape analyses, managing external counsel, and ensuring compliance with IP laws. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master’s in Chemistry (preferably Organic Chemistry), registered with the USPTO, with 7+ years in pharmaceutical small molecule patent law, including 2-3 years in-house experience. Skills: strong scientific and legal analytical ability, strategic IP development, and excellent communication. High-Value: focus on small-molecule cancer therapies, patenting novel inventions, supporting early to late-stage development, and navigating global IP regulations. Work setup: onsite in South San Francisco with some work-from-home flexibility; role involves extensive cross-department engagement and external counsel management.
