Kymera is seeking a Senior/Executive Director, AI Strategy & Applications (first dedicated AI leader), reporting to the VP, Information Technology. Hands-on builder defining Kymeraโs enterprise AI strategy and leading execution across Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory/CMC, and G&A.
Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain enterprise AI strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned to clinical and scientific priorities
- Prototype, build, and ship AI-powered solutions to address urgent business needs
- Own evaluation, selection, and administration of AI platforms (LLM tools, AI-assisted coding tools, scientific AI applications)
- Establish and lead AI governance; partner with Information Security on privacy, acceptable use, and vendor risk policies
- Manage AI vendor landscape; own deliverables from external AI engagements
- Champion AI adoption via education/enablement with People & Culture (training and AI-fluency hiring criteria)
- Own Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) / Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy
- Advise functional leaders on AI capabilities and limitations (bench scientists to C-suite)
Skills and experience youโll bring:
- Biotech/pharma experience with working knowledge of drug discovery, clinical development, regulatory, or CMC processes
- Hands-on with modern AI/LLM platforms (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI), building via APIs, prompt engineering, and agentic frameworks
- Strong software developer able to independently build and ship AI applications
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into practical AI solutions
- Experience managing vendor evaluations and enterprise AI platform deployments
- Excellent communicator to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred:
- Clinical-stage/growth-stage biotech experience; AI governance in regulated environments; AEO/GEO familiarity
Compensation:
- Anticipated base salary range: $235,000 โ $335,000; eligibility for annual bonus, equity participation, and comprehensive benefits
