Role Summary

Senior Operations Supervisor leads day-to-day operations of the plasma donor center. As a senior frontline leader, this role oversees the daily activities of donor floor operations, supervises staff, and supports compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The Senior Operations Supervisor acts as the on-shift lead, drives operational priorities, and supports the Center Manager in improving performance, donor satisfaction, and continuous improvement. Location: Sandy, UT.

Responsibilities

  • Act as acting leader in the absence of the Center Manager; perform all tasks within the plasma center; fulfill the role of production employees and supervise donor flow.
  • Oversee donor operations and supervise staff during assigned shifts, including staffing coordination, task assignments, break schedules, and coaching.
  • Create employee schedules to accommodate donor cycles.
  • Determine the adequacy and adjust inventory levels of goods and supplies; compile and submit orders to vendors to meet inventory needs.
  • Keep Center Manager informed of irregularities and provide action plans to improve deficiencies.
  • Support and execute daily operational plans to achieve center performance targets related to donor throughput, quality, and productivity.
  • Partner with Center Manager and Quality to identify and resolve deviations or operational concerns in real time.
  • Monitor donor flow and proactively address delays or service issues to ensure an exceptional donor experience.
  • Maintain familiarity with and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures.
  • Supervise donor selection, plasma collection, and manufacturing records to maintain high production standards in accordance with regulations and SOPs.
  • Attend required training sessions and staff meetings; ensure thorough documentation of necessary records.
  • Maintain a neat, clean facility and ensure equipment is in good working order; submit timely and accurate reports; assist in donor funds control as directed.
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and cross-training of staff to support center agility and performance.
  • Maintain active communication with other service areas to ensure accurate documentation and quality.
  • Lead by example in promoting safety, teamwork, and accountability; report unsafe situations to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
  • May be trained to repair plasma center equipment.
  • Assist the Center Manager in any task necessary to pursue company objectives.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Typically requires 6 years of related experience in phlebotomy, donor processing, and plasma processing with demonstrated ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Equivalency: Related experience or a combination of education and experience may be considered in place of stated requirements (e.g., 4 years of experience in lieu of an Associate’s degree or a Bachelor's degree).
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Exceptional customer service; proficient in speaking and writing English; bilingual skills where applicable; ability to understand, explain, and follow SOPs and protocols; ability to work flexible scheduling; ability to operate in a highly regulated, operations-intensive, high-volume medical environment where donor and employee safety and plasma quality are paramount.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified as Phlebotomist, Donor Center Technician, Plasma Processor, and Designated Trainer
  • CPR Certification

Additional Requirements

  • Occupational Demands: Work is performed in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids; PPE is required. Exposure to electrical equipment and extreme cold in plasma freezers. Standing 4–6 hours per day and sitting 1–2 hours per day; bending and twisting 1–2 hours per day; frequent hand and finger movements; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Good hearing and vision (color perception and near/far vision). Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and with guidance as needed; tasks vary with changing conditions.
