Role Summary

Senior Oncology Specialist responsible for the Austin, TX territory, including the western part of Houston. Serve as the primary customer contact, providing current clinical knowledge of Amgen's oncology products to medical professionals. Relocation is not offered for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute a comprehensive territory plan, including delivering branded sales messages, executing planned programs, scheduling and following up with medical educational programs, and achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Utilize internal and external relationships to service and manage accounts, ensuring product access, resolving/triaging reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
  • Craft an effective marketing strategy to aid in driving sales.
  • Analyze business effectiveness of sales activities and territory analysis, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
  • Maintain passion for the products throughout the sales cycle, building the brand while focusing on serving patients.
  • Partner with colleagues to share best practices and pursue continuous learning to grow as a Senior Oncology Specialist.
  • Leverage passion for Oncology and stay informed on disease state awareness, industry, regulatory, and competitive changes to deliver results.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or clinical experience in healthcare/scientific field that is not sales related
  • Or: Associate degree and 6 years of sales experience and/or clinical experience in healthcare/scientific field that is not sales related
  • Or: High school diploma / GED and 8 years of sales experience and/or clinical experience in healthcare/scientific field that is not sales related

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience in Oncology
  • Three or more years of sales and/or marketing experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or medical device industries
  • Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology and inflammation; knowledge of neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, or infectious diseases
  • Local market knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration
  • Adaptability with core competencies: Planning and Organizing; Leveraging Business, Industry, and Technical Knowledge; Communicating with Impact; Driving for Results; Cultivating Internal and External Relationships

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent combination as outlined in qualifications)
  • Alternative: Associate degree with additional experience; or High school diploma/GED with extended experience
