Role Summary
Senior National Account Director - Market Access (Remote - West) responsible for managing key payer relationships, developing access strategies, and leading market access initiatives to secure formulary access and coverage for UT products.
Responsibilities
- Relationship Management: Establish and maintain UT’s relationships with assigned National Accounts, KOL Payer stakeholders, and National Payer thought leaders. Develop relationships with large Payers and MCOs; serve as the primary resource for Market Access opportunities/issues; partner with field sales and educate on key managed care concepts
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Identify, develop, and implement payer access strategies and product-aligned MCO business plans. Optimize coverage opportunities focusing on ROI and market competitiveness. Drive payer uptake, formulary access, and coverage for UT products
- Collaboration and Communication: Regularly communicate with Market Access leadership and cross-functional teams. Translate payer opportunities into increased revenues and present formal business and product education to payers
- Contract Negotiation and Compliance: Negotiate and implement contracts within guidance from Market Access, Finance, and Legal. Maintain understanding of pharma compliance requirements and provide guidance on compliance
- Leadership and Mentorship: Lead among Market Access peers, mentor NAD team, initiate value-adding projects, and create tools/training for internal and external customers
- Support for Lung Bio Engineering (LBE): Lead for LBE, negotiating commercial contracts with Transplant Centers and OPOs; provide reimbursement/coverage expertise and educate payers about LBE services
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Build cross-functional synergy, initiate strategy meetings, and support senior management with payer strategies
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences or related field with 12+ years in pharma/biotech including Managed Care, sales leadership, and business case development; or Master’s Degree with 10+ years
- Required: Proven national payer contract development, negotiation, and implementation
- Required: Current relationships with relevant MCOs; executive level presentation experience
- Required: Demonstrated ability to cultivate MCO relationships and communicate clinical/technical information
- Required: Success with new product launches in MCO environment and pull-through implementation
- Required: Strong organizational skills and results-driven, team-oriented mindset
- Required: Proficiency with Microsoft Office; leadership experience managing large national accounts
- Required: Ability to travel up to 80% (including overnight)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in life sciences or related field
- 6+ years of current relationship and knowledge of national payer landscape
- 5+ years in rare disease sales management
- 2+ years of current experience in pulmonary arterial hypertension
- Experience in market access/managed care marketing or relevant brand management
