Role Summary

Senior Medical Science Liaison for Solid Tumor, covering Michigan and Indiana. Field-based role within the medical affairs team to support development and lifecycle management of Takeda Oncology medicines. Engage scientists and key opinion leaders with accurate, scientific, non-promotional information in the assigned geography.

Responsibilities

  • Apply subject matter knowledge and adaptive communication skills to support medical strategies for Takeda oncology compounds, focusing on hematology and colorectal cancer, and address unsolicited medical information requests from external stakeholders.
  • Develop and leverage thought leader relationships to meet US Medical Affairs strategic needs.
  • Provide medical insights and intelligence from the field to support development and lifecycle management of Takeda Oncology products.
  • Participate in and lead projects within a matrix environment to enhance value and productivity of US Medical Affairs Oncology.
  • Establish relationships and engage in peer-to-peer scientific discussions around emerging data, guidelines, molecular pathways, mechanisms of action, outcomes, and research opportunities.
  • Formulate and maintain a territory engagement plan aligned with US Field Medical priorities and integrated medical strategy; execute the plan.
  • Regularly collect medical insights from scientific exchanges with HCPs and the medical community and log insights for internal stakeholders.
  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries in accordance with field medical SOP.
  • Support Takeda Oncology sponsored research and assist in identifying and evaluating research sites when appropriate.
  • Participate in executing USMAO strategy at medical conferences and identify potential sites for future studies.
  • Present accurate, balanced scientific information in various settings, including one-on-one interactions and Takeda-sponsored engagements.
  • Complete required training, documentation, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Daily entry to hospitals and medical facilities with adherence to credentialing requirements.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific or healthcare degree required; doctoral degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, DMP/ARNP, etc.).
  • Experience in Oncology preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years field medical experience preferred; oncology experience and pharmaceutical industry experience required.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written; ability to earn trust and respect from peers and leaders.
  • Proficiency in technical and scientific language to communicate with KOLs, Medical Affairs, R&D, and other stakeholders.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to drive or fly to meetings/sites; overnight travel 50-60% with some weekend commitments; travel may vary by geography.

Education

  • Advanced scientific or healthcare degree required; doctoral degree preferred.
