Role Summary

Associate Director, US Field Medical Training will implement and deliver a comprehensive training program for assigned therapeutic areas for US field medical colleagues, collaborating with the Global Medical Training team to localize training plans, tools, and materials for the US Field Medical team. The role focuses on training in scientific expertise alongside communication and soft skills, working with US Field Team and cross-functional partners to ensure effective learning.

Responsibilities

  • Medical Training Plans – Implement global training plans across US Field Medical to drive worldwide consistency. Create and deliver regional-specific pull-through trainings following global sessions, including case studies, scenario-based learning, verbalization practice, and objection handling. Identify local training needs and deliver solutions using various methodologies (e.g., micro-learning, interactive case studies).
  • Onboarding – Deliver onboarding training to field medical new hires within assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Live and Virtual Training Sessions – Lead agenda development, logistics, and session planning for live trainings; deliver sessions and collaborate with subject matter experts as needed; organize and lead weekly Field Medical virtual training calls.
  • Soft Skills – Assess local needs for communication and skill development; align into annual global training plans; implement programs in the US with regionally based scenarios; lead development for locally unique needs; couple skills with scientific content.
  • Commercial Training – Partner with commercial cross-functional colleagues as appropriate.
  • Metrics – Track and report training effectiveness, completion rates, and impact metrics.
  • Cross-functional Alignment – Coordinate with Global Medical Training and US Field Medical Leadership, Medical Directors, Field Medical Heads, Scientific Communications, Field Medical Excellence, and Commercial Effectiveness; ensure materials are appropriate with legal/compliance input.
  • Innovation – Identify and drive innovative approaches to training and adult learning.
  • Customer-Focused – Spend time in the field understanding customer and MSL/MOL needs and translate to training opportunities.
  • Support other Global Medical Training roles/activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree required (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP-C).
  • 6+ years of Medical Affairs experience required, including direct Field Medical experience preferred (3 years).
  • Understanding of adult learning methodologies and training development required.
  • Deep understanding of the US market and ability to develop knowledge in assigned therapeutic areas and products required.
  • Forward-looking with continuous process improvement mentality.
  • Strong strategic thinker with ability to connect multiple components.
  • Leadership presence and ability to present and engage across the organization.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective internal relationships.
  • Creative problem solver who encourages unique solutions to issues.
  • Proven track record of working in a global environment across multiple international markets.
  • Strong understanding of regional healthcare systems and compliance environments.
