Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and foster effective, trusting relationships with Thought Leaders and appropriate (allied) HCPs and stakeholders involved in clinical decision-making for pain-related conditions.
- Use expertise in pain to understand relationships within/between academic centers and integrated delivery networks to enhance engagements.
- Apply all aspects of the SEM (Scientific Engagement Model) in interactions.
- Incorporate the medical plan into interactions and territory planning (listening priorities) and capture feedback in the CRM to inform internal stakeholders and strategy.
- Use CRM/data analytics tools for time-sensitive capture of interaction details; leverage CRM/analytics to enhance TL engagements and manage workload.
- Communicate clinical, scientific, and health economic information effectively and compliantly (disease state and product).
- Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacists, P&T committees, payers, and integrated delivery networks, including payers’ impact on patient care.
- Support clinical development/operations: understand IB content, present at SIV meetings, provide trial site nominations, and review end-of-study data with investigators.
- Represent Vertex at medical congresses (scientific session/abstract coverage, booth staffing, TL interactions, congress summaries; may serve as MSL congress lead).
- Mentor/train colleagues and support new hire MSL onboarding.
- Perform activities in compliance with Vertex policies and complete administrative tasks (e.g., CRM entry, mileage/expense reporting, calendar entries, training assignments).

Knowledge/Skills
- Training/experience with pain-related medical conditions.
- Ability to meet goals on time; plan/execute in changing field environment; create innovative solutions.
- Ability to appraise medical/scientific literature and present information credibly.
- Knowledge of geographic territory, healthcare regulatory environment, Microsoft Office, and matrix environments.
- Knowledge of disease/disease management protocols, healthcare environment, competitors; compliance/regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of payers and Health Economics & Outcomes Research.
- Fluent in English and local language (oral and written).

Requirements
- Advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (e.g., MS, NP, PA) or terminal degree desirable (PhD, PharmD, MD).
- Typically 5+ years of experience as an MSL (or equivalent medical affairs experience).
- Live within the North West territory near an airport; travel routinely as needed.
