Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and fosters effective relationships with Thought Leaders and engages allied HCPs and other stakeholders to support pain-related clinical decision making.
- Uses pain expertise to understand inter-relationships across academic centers and integrated delivery networks.
- Applies all aspects of the SEM (Scientific Engagement Model) in interactions.
- Incorporates the medical plan into interactions and territory planning (listening priorities); captures feedback in the CRM to inform medical strategy.
- Uses CRM/data analytics tools for time-sensitive capture of interaction details and workload management.
- Communicates clinical, scientific, and health economic information compliantly at an advanced level.
- Demonstrates knowledge of pharmacists, P&T committees, payers, and integrated delivery networks, including payer impact on care.
- Supports clinical development/operations by understanding IB content; presents IB at SIV meetings; provides trial site nominations; reviews end-of-study data.
- Represents the company at medical congresses (session/abstract coverage, booth coverage, TL interactions, congress summaries; may lead logistics/debrief).
- Mentors/train colleagues; supports onboarding of new MSLs.
- Conducts activities in compliance with company policy and completes administrative tasks (e.g., CRM entry, reports, expenses, calendar, training).
Knowledge/Skills
- Experience/training with medical conditions associated with pain.
- Ability to deliver high-quality results on time; plan projects in a changing environment; create innovative solutions.
- Ability to appraise medical/scientific literature; present credible information in varied settings.
- Knowledge of assigned geographic territory; healthcare regulatory environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; works effectively in matrix environments.
- Knowledge of disease management protocols, healthcare environment, and competitors.
- Working understanding of compliance/regulatory frameworks for the pharmaceutical industry.
- Knowledge of payers and health economics/outcomes research; supports access and appropriate use of medicines.
- Fluent in English and local language (oral and written).
Requirements
- Advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (e.g., MS, NP, PA) or terminal science degree desirable (PhD, PharmD, MD).
- Typically 5+ years of experience as an MSL or other pharma/biotech medical affairs role (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Must live within the North West territory near an airport and be willing to travel routinely.
