Senior Medical Science Liaison - Pain (Baltimore/Philadelphia)

Role: Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) serving as a scientific expert and external stakeholder engager for Vertex's compounds, primarily in cystic fibrosis (CF). Objectives include establishing and maintaining relationships with healthcare professionals, influencing medical strategy with insights, and supporting clinical development activities. Responsibilities encompass developing trusted Thought Leader networks, providing scientific education and data, contributing to medical planning, representing Vertex at medical congresses, and mentoring colleagues. The Sr MSL also assists with clinical trial site identification, investigator interactions, and compliance in all activities. Qualifications: advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Master’s, NP, PA), minimum 5 years of MSL or related experience in pharma/biotech, with prior therapeutic area training preferred. Core skills include scientific literature appraisal, high-level communication, understanding of healthcare regulation, payers, and health economics, with proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office. High-value specifics: focus on CF, biologics, and supporting clinical and medical affairs strategies; travel up to 70%, including weekends. The role reports to Medical Affairs and involves field-based engagement within the assigned territory, emphasizing ethical scientific exchange and compliance.
