Location: East Coast (ideal locations include New England, NY/NJ, Pennsylvania, Mid-Atlantic, Carolinas, Georgia, or Florida).
Position Summary
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) provides non-promotional scientific, educational, and research support for the Vericel Orthopedic portfolio; develops relationships with key orthopedic experts and maintains knowledge of the Orthopedic franchise; participates in brand planning initiatives with interdepartmental working groups to support Medical Affairs and corporate goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate clinical, scientific, and medical information to key orthopedic experts, HCPs, decision makers, and stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge of the orthopedic treatment landscape (current/pending options and new developments) via conferences/symposiums and journal review.
- Identify, establish, and maintain collaborative relationships with experts, investigators, and strategic institutions.
- Educate healthcare professionals through presentations, customer visits, investigator meetings, advisory boards, and medical meetings.
- Coordinate support for sites/investigators in clinical trials and post-market studies in accordance with GCP.
- Support and guide investigator sponsored studies (ISS) through internal processes.
- Respond to medical information requests with clear, tailored responses.
- Communicate key field insights to internal teams to guide research and development strategy.
- Identify medical community educational needs related to cartilage lesion treatment and appropriate use of Vericel products.
- Maintain clinical expertise via ongoing education, symposium/workshops, and journal review.
- Participate in internal training, presentations, and journal clubs; communicate with Clinical, Regulatory, and Legal teams to meet timelines/procedures.
Qualifications
- MS, Physical Therapy; RN/BSN; MD; PhD; or PharmD.
- Experience working with orthopedics or cell therapies (required).
- 2–5+ years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison.
- Must live in the Eastern region of the U.S. and within 30 miles of a major airport.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong clinical and basic science knowledge to deliver data and technical education to HCPs.
- Must be able and willing to attend surgical procedures.
- Must be able to pass hospital credentialing requirements.
- Must be able to lift and carry instrument trays/supplies up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to travel up to 70% in the Eastern U.S., including occasional weekend travel.
