Role Summary

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will provide non-promotional scientific, educational, and research support for the Vericel Orthopedic portfolio, build relationships with key orthopedic experts, and participate in brand planning to support corporate and Medical Affairs goals.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a conduit for accurate clinical, scientific and medical information to key orthopedic experts, healthcare professionals, decision makers, and other stakeholders in compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain knowledge of the orthopedic care landscape and current treatment strategies through conference attendance and literature review.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain collaborative relationships with key experts, investigators, and institutions relevant to product development.
  • Educate healthcare professionals through presentations, visits, investigator meetings, advisory boards, and medical meetings to enhance product and disease state knowledge.
  • Collaborate with research and clinical teams to coordinate support for sites/investigators in clinical trials and post-market studies with good clinical practice (GCP) compliance.
  • Support and guide requests for investigator sponsored studies (ISS) through internal processes.
  • Respond to medical information requests with clear, tailored responses.
  • Identify and communicate clinical and research insights to internal teams to inform research, development, and strategies for investigational and commercialized products.
  • Identify educational needs in the medical community regarding cartilage lesion treatment and appropriate use of Vericel products.
  • Maintain clinical expertise through ongoing education and review of key journals; participate in internal training and communications with Clinical, Regulatory, and Legal personnel.
  • Adhere to regulatory and compliance guidelines and company policies in all dissemination of information, including responses to unsolicited medical information requests.

Qualifications

  • MS, Physical Therapy degree, RN/BSN, MD, PhD, or PharmD
  • Experience working with orthopedics or cell therapies required
  • 2-5+ years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison
  • Must live in the Eastern region of the U.S. and within 30 miles of a major airport
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-versed in clinical and basic science to deliver education to healthcare professionals
  • Must be able and willing to attend surgical procedures
  • Must be able to pass hospital credentialing requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry instrument trays, surgical supplies and training supplies up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time in the Eastern region of the United States, including occasional weekend travel
