Role Summary

Senior Medical Science Liaison for Gastroenterology in Northern California/Nevada. Remote, field-based, external customer-facing role within the US therapeutic area medical unit, focused on analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating scientific data; acquiring and translating customer insights; fostering external expert networks; and connecting customers to Takeda to advance medical strategy and patient outcomes. Reports to the Director, Field Medical - West Gastroenterology. Territory includes Northern California (north of Bakersfield and San Luis Obispo) and Nevada; residence within territory is required.

Responsibilities

  • Externally-focused KOL/HCP activities comprising a minimum of 80% of responsibilities
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with KOLs/HCPs per territory plans aligned to medical strategy
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Takeda disease areas and products and therapeutic area competitor landscape; analyze and interpret complex scientific information and disseminate to KOLs/HCPs in a compliant, fair-balanced, and non-misleading manner
  • Support Takeda-sponsored research and facilitate medically aligned collaborative studies and investigator-initiated research processes
  • Display advanced knowledge of therapeutic area topics; collect, interpret, and internally communicate medical insights from KOLs/HCPs to inform and refine medical strategies
  • Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities between KOLs/HCPs and Takeda US Medical
  • Participate in executing medical strategy at medical conferences (e.g., staff medical booth, share insights from posters/sessions and KOL/HCP interactions)
  • Respond to unsolicited HCP medical information inquiries referred by Medical Information within defined timelines and quality standards
  • Complete all required customer activity documentation (CRM entries, insights capture, etc.), training, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in life/health sciences preferred (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent); Master's degree in health sciences (MSN, NP, or PA) is the minimum requirement
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a field-based medical science liaison (MSL) in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Education

  • Doctoral degree preferred; Master's degree as minimum requirement as specified in Qualifications

Additional Requirements

  • Travel up to 70% of time, including overnight and weekend travel; ability to drive and/or fly to meetings; clean and valid driver’s license
