Role Summary
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (Dermatology) is a field-based, external customer-facing member of the US therapeutic area medical unit team. The role analyzes, interprets, and disseminates scientific data, translates customer insights, fosters external expert networks, and connects customers to Takeda to advance medical strategy and improve patient outcomes within GA, AL, SC, and NC. The position reports to the Director, MSL and is primarily externally focused to support dermatology-focused medical activities.
Responsibilities
- Externally-focused KOL/HCP activities to comprise a minimum of 80% of responsibilities
- Build and maintain professional relationships with KOLs/HCPs per territory plans aligned to medical strategy
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Takeda disease areas and products and the therapeutic area landscape; analyze and interpret complex scientific information and disseminate to KOLs/HCPs in a compliant, balanced, and non-misleading manner
- Support Takeda-sponsored research and facilitate strategically aligned medical collaborative studies and investigator-initiated research processes
- Display advanced knowledge of therapeutic area intelligence topics and effectively collect, interpret, and internally communicate medical insights from KOLs/HCPs to inform medical strategies
- Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities between KOLs/HCPs and Takeda US Medical
- Participate in executing medical strategy at conferences (e.g., staff medical booth, sharing insights from poster/session attendance and KOL/HCP interactions)
- Respond to unsolicited HCP medical information inquiries referred by Medical Information within defined timelines and quality standards
- Leverage digital tools, including AI, to enhance productivity and efficiency for engagement planning and medical insights reporting
- Complete all required customer activity documentation (e.g., CRM entries, insights capture), training, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner
Qualifications
- Required: Doctoral degree in life/health sciences preferred (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent); Masterโs degree in health sciences (MSN, NP, or PA) is the minimum requirement
- Required: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a field-based medical science liaison (MSL) in the pharmaceutical industry
- Required: Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Required: Execution of activities within legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements
- Required: Use of digital tools, including AI, to enhance productivity and efficiency

Education

Additional Requirements
- Travel: Frequent travel required; up to 70% of time, including some overnight and weekend
- Ability to drive and/or fly to meetings; must have a clean and valid driverโs license
