Role Summary
The Value Chain Leader (VCL) will lead and coordinate Global Product Development & Supply (GPS) brand strategy activities, including ensuring on-time launches, implementing brand value chain strategies, and managing transitions to receiving teams. The role involves cross-functional leadership, initiative chartering, planning, governance endorsements, and reporting on key project metrics to realize targeted business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Ensure on-time new brand / line extension launches and implement brand value chain strategies (e.g., deletions).
- Partner with GPS and alliance partners to facilitate key brand objectives including network changes, risk mitigation, and multi-site productivity initiatives.
- Support or lead the creation and refresh of the Annual Product Strategy document, Business Continuity Plan, and Annual Product Review.
- Manage smooth transitions to receiving teams when responsibility is transferred after milestones (e.g., Site to Market).
- Charter initiatives, plan, form teams, clarify roles, and oversee execution; secure endorsements via governance; establish and report metrics; identify and mitigate project risks.
- Lead cross-functional teams and develop/execute cross-functional plans to realize targeted business outcomes.
- Oversee cross-functional leadership, project management, business case development, timelines, and documentation of decisions per decision rights.
Qualifications
- Required: BS/BA in a technical field (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, related life sciences or engineering); advanced technical degree, MBA, or equivalent experiences desirable.
- Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry with exposure to development, operations, supply chain, technology, quality, regulatory, or research.
- Required: Ability to build alignment with business partners across R&D, commercial, and manufacturing; strong relationships, transparency, reliability, and delivery on commitments.
- Required: Demonstrated ability to lead matrix teams and influence areas outside direct reporting lines to achieve objectives.
- Required: Good financial acumen and skills in project management and decision analysis.
- Preferred: External experience outside the company or industry and experience with external relationships/contracts.
