Responsibilities:
- Own the financial close for SG&A-related activities in accordance with GAAP to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Lead day-to-day SG&A accounting operations: general ledger management, journal entry preparation/review, account reconciliation, and close support.
- Support accounting coverage for 40+ departments as a reliable finance partner.
- Coordinate projects and system/process improvements to keep the team current, scalable, and able to support growth.
- Manage and mentor one or more accountants.
- Review, interpret, and apply consistent accounting treatment for contracts, including:
- Consulting/professional services
- Subscriptions and SaaS tools
- Milestone-based agreements
- Medical grants and sponsorships
- Conference and marketing agreements
- Analytical and research services
- Serve as primary SG&A accounting advisor for operational and financial decision-making.
- Determine appropriate accounting treatment (expense vs. prepaid vs. capitalization) with rationale and documentation.
- Review invoices to ensure accurate recording in the accounting system.
- Support quarterly reviews, year-end audits, and periodic SEC reporting.
- Drive continuous process improvements for efficiency and timeliness.

- Ability to identify process inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 8+ years of relevant accounting management experience.
- Biotech/pharmaceutical environment experience preferred.
- CPA with Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
- Netsuite accounting system exposure a plus.
