Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the SAP S/4HANA Finance capability strategy and multi-year roadmap for Product Costing, Inventory Accounting, and Operational Accounting; establish target-state vision, operating model, design principles, and KPIs.
- Serve as the named SME and design authority for SAP CO/FI integration across product costing and inventory valuation; set standards/patterns, approve designs, and provide final technical recommendations.
- Lead end-to-end solution shaping for complex, non-routine initiatives by converting ambiguous business needs into a clear problem statement, solution options, executive trade-offs, and an executable delivery backlog.
- Drive enterprise standardization and continuous improvement by identifying systemic process/control gaps, defining remediation strategy, and influencing governance decisions.
- Provide accountable leadership for cross-functional programs and major workstreams (scope, outcomes, resourcing, timeline, budget, quality, cutover readiness) and ensure operational sustainability via runbooks and support model readiness.
- Set technical direction and govern delivery execution across system integrators/third parties; define acceptance criteria, chair design reviews, approve deliverables, and manage escalations.
- Own domain integration and data strategy (interface patterns, master/transactional data definitions, reconciliation frameworks, data quality controls) to ensure integrity and traceability.
- Lead senior stakeholder management across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and IT; facilitate decisions and communicate options, risks, dependencies, and recommendations.
- Act as domain thought leader in ambiguous environments; frame problems, align stakeholders, and anticipate downstream impacts to financial close, compliance, and manufacturing operations.
- Establish and run domain governance (design authority, change control, prioritization, release management) and manage dependencies and risk mitigation.
- Drive enterprise value realization by identifying cross-domain synergies and reuse opportunities across SAP Finance and Supply Chain.
- Own domain compliance and controls approach for delivered solutions (GxP, SOX/internal controls, and BMS standards), partnering with Quality to embed validation strategy and audit-ready documentation/testing.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive SAP CO experience with depth/breadth in product costing and inventory valuation; recognized as a named SME.
- Proven experience implementing SAP solutions in a GxP-regulated environment (preferably pharma/life sciences).
- Track record leading complex, enterprise-scale SAP initiatives end-to-end (or major workstreams), including roadmap planning, design authority, delivery governance, and operational handover across releases.
- Ability to define integration/data approaches and coordinate build/conversion activities across internal teams and third parties, ensuring data quality, reconciliation, and process continuity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to frame ambiguous problems and drive decisions across stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and across virtual, cross-functional, and cross-regional teams.
Preferred
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA FI, MM (Inventory Management), Manufacturing, and PP (Production Planning).
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory compliance and GxP validation.
- Familiarity with SAP integration patterns, third-party bolt-ons, and digital transformation methodologies (Agile, SDLC).
- Experience leading vendor performance in a multi-vendor model (delivery standards, design reviews, and escalations).
