Position Overview:
Senior Manager, R&D Procurement, Biomarkers Category will develop, lead, and manage the Biomarkers category strategy supporting Innovative Medicine R&D Clinical Development—translating scientific and clinical needs into market-informed strategies, supplier strategies, sourcing approaches, contracting pathways, and governance models to enable access to biomarker technologies while delivering procurement value, continuity, quality, compliance, and speed to innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Determine global business needs and develop/refresh global Biomarkers category strategy (guidance, supplier segmentation, preferred vendor models, governance, contracting strategy).
- Partner with scientific, clinical, business, vendor management, finance, quality, legal, and digital stakeholders.
- Use market intelligence to inform sourcing approaches and contracting pathways (including strategic partnerships and agile test-and-learn models where appropriate).
- Support major sourcing events (RFx), supplier evaluations, and negotiations.
- Lead supplier relationship management and governance; monitor/mitigate risks (supplier, regulatory, geopolitical, technology, performance, contracting).
- Deliver business plan commitments (savings, cost management, cash flow, supplier management, traceable impact goals) using the R&D Procurement operating model.
- Drive execution via scorecards, milestone tracking, and issue/risk mitigation; leverage approved analytics and GenAI tools.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree; 8+ years related experience.
- Preferred: Master’s/advanced degree in sciences/business/supply chain/procurement.
