Key Responsibilities (Key Result Areas):
- Lead participation in patient organization events, workshops, and conferences to elevate awareness and champion patient community engagement in the West and Southcentral regions.
- Build and maintain trusted, strategic, long-term relationships with patient organizations and communities.
- Support development of patient-facing educational materials, booths, and exhibit needs.
- Identify patient organizations for strategic collaborations and partnerships that educate and mobilize patients to seek optimal care and amplify the patient voice (HCPs, policymakers, payers).
- Execute integrated patient advocacy strategies aligned to critical business and corporate priorities based on patient/care partner experience and unmet needs.
- Coordinate objectives with customer-focused teams including MSLs, Account Managers (HCPs and payers), and Case Managers.
- Support development of a patient advocacy field strategy informed by the advocacy community and aligned to business needs.
- Champion the patient perspective and deliver strategic insights to senior leadership, program, and functional teams.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years in patient advocacy in biopharmaceutical industry; preference for field experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, social science, communications, or related field (Master’s a plus).
- Rare disease patient advocacy experience required.
- Preferred: engagement experience across pre-launch through commercialization.
- Proven ability to foster collaboration and build trust with patient communities.
- Cross-functional collaboration experience (R&D, Medical Affairs, Communications, Market Access, Commercial).
- Ability to balance business/science needs with patient community needs.
- Excellent public speaking/presentation and communication skills; ethical, flexible, creative; results in a matrixed organization.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of legal/regulatory/compliance/ethical guidelines impacting patient advocacy.
- Ability to organize and prioritize in a changing environment.
- Travel 40%+.
US Salary Range: $168,000—$218,000 USD
