Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Materials Management is responsible for the overall performance of Materials Management, developing strategies and tactical means to support Operations and the global supply chain while upholding safety, quality, delivery, and P&L (cost savings). The Senior Manager leads strategic objectives for the business, including the Alternative Supplier Qualification program, material risk review, and technology/automation advancements. The role manages a mixed team of managers and individual contributors, staffing and capacity planning, and ensures on-time delivery of materials and finished goods, with continuous improvement and data-driven problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for an organization of 40+ employees supporting materials planning, receiving/warehouse, materials management (manufacturing support), and shipping/logistics, ensuring on-time, in-full, and high-quality delivery with safety and quality.
- Manage Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing Inventories valued at $100 million.
- Establish annual operating budgets and measure financial performance; own expense budgets over US$10 million.
- Identify and execute continuous improvement efforts to meet service, quality, and cost objectives; drive strategies and effectiveness of functions with reliable processes, data-driven problem solving, and robust root cause analysis.
- Provide training and development for the team, support and motivate teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of projects and maintain stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Supply Chain field; MBA preferred
- DOT/IATA Certification required within 30 days of employment
- APICS certification and training/certification in OPEX principles (Lean/Six Sigma) preferred
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in logistics/planning operations in a regulated GMP industry, including project management experience
- Excellent communication, engagement, and diplomacy skills; ability to influence without direct authority
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate cross-functional teams to a desired outcome and communicate with senior management
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
- Strong statistical/analytical skills for root cause problem solving
- Basic knowledge of SAP, Maximo, PowerBI, and Microsoft Office Suite
