Senior Manager, Cost Accounting is the subject matter expert for inventory, manufacturing, and cost accounting, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, standard costing, COGS accounting, and related financial reporting. Partners with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and FP&A to support internal controls, financial processes, and decision-support analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead inventory accounting, cost accounting, and COGS accounting (inventory valuation, standard costing, manufacturing variance analysis, reporting).
- Own and enhance standard costing methodologies, product costing models, and inventory valuation processes (including annual cost updates).
- Ensure inventory valuation and COGS recording comply with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
- Analyze manufacturing/inventory/purchase price variances and identify drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead inventory reserve analyses (excess, obsolete, slow-moving) and assess trends with business partners.
- Perform month/quarter/year-end close for inventory, manufacturing costs, and COGS (journal entries, reconciliations, analyses).
- Prepare management reporting and profitability schedules.
- Partner cross-functionally to provide accounting guidance and costing analytics for budgeting/forecasting and decisions.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation, and system enhancements.
- Support internal/external audits and SOX compliance with timely, high-quality documentation.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures; provide costing guidance for new products/arrangements.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting/Finance or related (Masterโs/MBA preferred).
- CPA or CMA required (active preferred).
- 12+ years progressive finance/technical accounting experience (public accounting and/or public company experience).
- 8+ years cost accounting/standard costing/manufacturing/supply chain/internal controls/SOX (med device/pharma/biotech/life sciences/healthcare preferred).
- ERP experience (NetSuite preferred).
- Advanced Microsoft and financial data analysis.
- Experience with process improvement/automation/scalable reporting.
- Experience with CMOs and 3PLs.
