Senior Manager, Construction Contractor Safety

Responsibilities:
- Support implementation, governance, standards, training, and performance processes for the Amgen Construction Contractor Safety Program.
- Provide technical leadership across capital projects and promote consistent contractor/subcontractor compliance.
- Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of program elements and training.
- Advise capital project leadership on safety performance, priorities, operations, and scheduling; track safety performance via meaningful metrics.
- Use safety metrics and trends to recommend and implement improvements.
- Identify and implement technology solutions (including emerging tools such as AI) to strengthen construction safety management.
- Monitor contractor/subcontractor compliance with regional regulations, industry standards, and company requirements.
- Manage EHS prequalification/requalification by confirming adequate training, knowledge, experience, and resources.
- Review contractor project-specific safety plans; ensure required systems and resources for safe execution.
- Ensure orientation and training for impacted personnel and train project engineers/managers on company expectations.
- Coordinate with project supervisors and other safety roles; manage designated service-provider/project-supervisor contracts as applicable.
- Ensure timely review/approval of risk assessments and method statements (e.g., STAs, JHAs); facilitate inspections/audits and track non-conformances.
- Compile, analyze, and report safety statistics and performance.
- Participate in incident investigations; support RCA, corrective actions, and lessons learned; escalate incidents per SOP.

Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate + 2 years; OR Master’s + 6; OR Bachelor’s + 8; OR Associate’s + 10; OR HS/GED + 12 in EHS/Occupational Safety/Engineering or related field.
- Plus minimum 2 years directly managing people and/or leadership experience (can run concurrently).

Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years construction safety on large capital projects.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and construction technical standards.
- Ability to solve complex safety problems; work independently under minimal direction.
- Travel ~50%.
- Bachelor’s in relevant discipline; pharma/biopharma construction safety experience.
- Contractor safety governance experience across multiple projects/sites/regions.
- Technology/data analytics experience; CSP/CIH or equivalent.
