Objective / Purpose:
- The Senior Manager, Clinical Partner Outsourcing (CPO) ensures seamless execution of clinical studies by developing robust supplier contracts through commercial negotiations and resolving commercial/operational challenges, ensuring on-time study starts aligned to business requirements and standards.
Accountabilities:
- Develop/finalize study-level contracts and change orders aligned to Master Service Agreements.
- Lead ballparking, contracting, and commercial management of complex clinical studies across supplier categories.
- Apply appropriate commercial constructs to enable study start despite evolving assumptions.
- Use cost models/workbooks to validate pricing and budget assumptions; improve validation capabilities.
- Negotiate with CROs and suppliers for optimal terms; manage contract amendments throughout the study lifecycle.
- Support study closeout reconciliation; collaborate with clinical operations and stakeholders.
- Generate preliminary cost estimates for budget planning; address commercial/contract challenges and escalate as needed.
- Drive operational support and ensure alignment between contractual terms and operational implementation.
- Serve as a SME, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and anticipate industry trends impacting operating/cost models.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies/procedures and readiness for inspections; lead or participate in special projects.
Education & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or certifications (e.g., PMP, CPA) preferred.
- 7+ years in pharma/clinical research.
- Experience across functions/regions; clinical procurement/contract or supplier relationship management.
- Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes and regulatory requirements (GCP, ICH).
- Experience with contract negotiations, financial analysis, and budget management.
- Familiarity with CRO/clinical outsourcing models.
- Strong strategic thinking, project management, and written/verbal communication.
