Senior IT Business Analyst (Sr. IT BA) – Research Sample & Reagent Management
Key Responsibilities
- Develop deep domain knowledge of Sample Management and Reagent Management processes, workflows, and data in Drug Discovery Research
- Collaborate with bench scientists, lab operations, and research informatics to translate scientific workflows into digital requirements
- Serve as domain liaison for how samples/reagents are tracked, stored, consumed, and reported across the drug discovery lifecycle
- Elicit and document business needs (user stories, process maps, use cases), map processes, discover root causes, and maintain focus on business value
- Manage stakeholder expectations and advise on delivery challenges; represent the “voice of the customer”
- Prototype/thin-slice solutions to validate requirements (scripts/workflows/UI mock-ups); partner with engineering using low-code/no-code, Python/SQL, and configuration tools
- Lead POCs, define acceptance criteria, support UAT, and validate solutions meet business outcomes
- Apply GenAI to accelerate requirements gathering and documentation; identify AI opportunity areas; apply responsible AI principles
Qualifications
Required:
- BS/MS/PhD in life sciences (Bio/Chem/Biochem/Bioinformatics) or technical field (CS/IT or equivalent)
- 5+ years progressive IT experience supporting scientific applications in pharma/biotech/life sciences
- Hands-on experience with Sample and/or Reagent Management in Drug Discovery Research
- Strong requirements management; Agile/Scrum knowledge; SQL and/or Python proficiency; strong communication/presentation
Preferred:
- GenAI/tools; low-code/no-code (e.g., Power Platform/ServiceNow); IIBA or equivalent BA certification; experience overseeing Jr. BAs/consultants; inventory/reagent platform experience
