About the Role
As a Senior Facility Engineer, you will lead complex facility engineering projects to strengthen infrastructure reliability, optimize clean utilities, and improve operational efficiency. Responsibilities include cleanroom/production space modifications, upgrades to WFI, RO water, clean steam, process compressed air, and HVAC, and site-wide facility shutdowns. You will collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, and Maintenance; coordinate internal teams, external service providers, and landlord-managed resources; and use KPIs to drive service excellence and reliability. You will also support sustainability goals through energy reduction and utility optimization while contributing to capital planning and long-term site strategy.
How you will contribute
- Lead facility engineering projects improving reliability, performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate annual facility shutdowns (planning, scheduling, resources, escalation, execution oversight).
- Manage and support critical utility systems: HVAC, clean steam, WFI, RO water, compressed air.
- Develop and implement KPIs for utility performance and facility reliability.
- Lead facility change controls, risk assessments, deviations, investigations, and CAPAs per GMP.
- Manage external vendors/contractors to meet safety, quality, and technical standards.
- Partner with Validation, Quality, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Engineering to deliver compliant, sustainable solutions.
- Support engineering standards, procedures, documentation, and best practices.
- Provide technical expertise during regulatory inspections, internal audits, and quality assessments.
- Lead sustainability and energy-reduction projects.
- Develop project schedules, cost estimates, budgets, and implementation plans.
- Support facility security and infrastructure improvements (e.g., access control, monitoring).
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
What you bring to Takeda
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years engineering experience supporting facilities/utilities/infrastructure in a regulated environment.
- Experience managing facility/utility engineering projects from planning through execution.
- Hands-on HVAC and critical facility infrastructure experience.
- Clean utility experience (WFI, RO water, clean steam, compressed air or similar).
- GMP-regulated industry experience (pharma/biotech/medical device/food/chemical or similar).
- Experience with change controls, deviations, investigations, CAPAs, and engineering documentation.
- Project management skills (scope, scheduling, budgeting, stakeholder management).
- Strong written/verbal communication; ability to influence without direct authority.
Preferred (if applicable)
- Pharmaceutical/biotechnology manufacturing experience.
- Cleanroom/aseptic manufacturing and shutdown planning/execution.
- External contractor/vendor relationship experience.
