Role Summary
We’re seeking a Senior Director of Sourcing & Procurement to lead the development and execution of our company-wide sourcing and procurement strategy. This role will report to the CFO and will be responsible for building scalable, compliant, and value-driven sourcing and procurement policies and processes that support our G&A, commercial, clinical, and manufacturing operations. They will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve Company timelines and objectives — enabling the company and its employees to operate efficiently, responsibly, and strategically as we continue to grow.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a company-wide program for sourcing & procurement, purchasing, negotiation, and vendor selection, including frameworks for vendor evaluation, engagement, and RFP ownership.
- Develop and manage sourcing plans for major spend areas, including, but not limited to, contract manufacturing, clinical operations, professional services, IT, and marketing/commercial operations.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, master service agreements, and statements of work in partnership with Legal, Finance and business stakeholders.
- Serve as the in-house negotiation expert to advise the business, direct and secure the best outcome for the company, maximize leverage, manage risk, and steer complex and critical negotiations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key business leaders and cross-functional teams to understand and support their vendor needs; work with managers and key partners to identify opportunities to leverage purchasing power.
- Partner with Finance to support budget planning, forecasting, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Develop, direct, and manage overall cost reduction targets and oversee execution of initiatives – accountable for tracking and reporting of procurement savings.
- Build and optimize procurement policies, processes, and systems that scale with the company’s growth.
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance, business adoption, and technology enhancements.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree; 12+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, and/or supply chain.
- Preferred: MBA or relevant master’s degree.
- Preferred: Experience within publicly traded companies and in the biotech, pharma, or life sciences industries.
- Preferred: Proven success building or leading procurement functions in a commercial-stage life sciences (pharma or biotech) organization.
- Deep understanding of contract manufacturing and clinical development operations.
- Strong grasp of GxP requirements and regulated supplier environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management & relationship skills.
- Ability to translate complex contract matters into clear and concise impact statements for stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to independently execute operationally and drive change collaboratively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
- Proven experience as a high performer and thought leader with a high level of accountability and adherence to ethical standards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- Familiarity with ERP and/or procurement systems (e.g., NetSuite, Coupa, SAP, Zip, Ariba) and interest in being part of potential implementation team.
Additional Requirements
- Travel may be required for up to 10% of time.
