Role Summary
The Senior Director, Insights & Analytics (I&A) - Rare Disease leads strategic insights and analytics for the Rare Disease Commercial Business Unit. The role involves driving innovation, optimizing commercial performance, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality analytical solutions and insights. The leader will manage a lean team, act as a player-coach, and ensure delivery of impactful analyses while influencing strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight while developing and maintaining reporting and analytics tailored to rare disease portfolio management.
- Ensure insights and analytics strategies align with asset-specific needs, addressing diagnostic gaps and unmet medical needs.
- Lead the creation of standard and ad hoc analytics, reporting, and actionable insights for rare disease brands.
- Foster innovative solutions and design-thinking approaches to address complexities of rare diseases.
- Assess and implement novel methodologies to address rare disease challenges, including patient journeys, diagnostic pathways, and brand differentiation.
- Mentor and develop team members to cultivate expertise in rare disease analytics and leadership.
- Present analytics ideas, progress, and results to business partners; simplify complex approaches and make them actionable.
- Collaborate with Rare Disease stakeholders to balance rigor, timelines, and influence decisions.
- Work with Data Management and Incentive Compensation teams to support integrated business planning for sales teams.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams/vendors for cross-functional analysis, data acquisition, and patient advocacy insights.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and privacy requirements related to data assets.
- Develop standardized adoption of capabilities across I&A in collaboration with CSI&A leaders.
- Develop and operationalize diagnostic funnel and patient journey models for rare disease indications.
- Formulate key commercial questions, initiate targeted analytics, and implement solutions that address distinct needs.
- Conduct sub-national growth drivers analyses and build local resource allocation and pull-through strategies.
- Support integrated business planning for sales teams and align with diagnostic challenges and patient access hurdles.
- Provide targeting and segmentation support to optimize field force efforts.
- Oversee next best action models and HCP 360 view for field force and reimbursement management.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) with 15+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience in roles of increasing accountability; prior experience with market-leading brands.
- 5+ years of management experience including I&A groups with responsibility for analytics, HCP and consumer/patient insights, market access analytics, and competitive intelligence.
- Expertise in rare disease conditions with low-prevalence populations and significant unmet medical needs, including familiarity with diagnostic challenges and evolving regulatory pathways.
- In-depth knowledge and data mining experience using secondary subnational prescription and sales data; experience with longitudinal patient data and specialty/pharmacy hub data preferred; familiarity with pharma data sources (IQVIA, Symphony, etc.).
- Experience in resource optimization, commercial mix modeling or alignment, targeting, and call planning.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to convey ideas and data persuasively in writing and verbally.
- Ability to translate strategy into execution with hands-on experience leading large cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong organizational, project management, influencing, and change management skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members; familiarity with competency-based goal setting and people development.
