Summary
- The Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) Senior Director leads asset-specific payer evidence strategies, including patient-relevant outcomes strategy, to generate differentiated evidence, strengthen payer value propositions, and optimize access.
Responsibilities
- Lead development, execution, and communication of payer evidence strategies for early-stage pipeline assets.
- Collaborate with Value & Access, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Patient Advocacy.
- Define payer/HTA requirements for patient-relevant outcomes and health utility measurement; assess requirements for HTA/access differentiation.
- Ensure payer evidence requirements are incorporated into clinical development plans.
- Develop cross-functionally aligned, asset-specific patient-relevant outcomes strategies using disease conceptual models.
- Lead patient-relevant endpoint planning and oversee implementation in clinical trials.
- Lead early Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA) strategy development across markets.
- Identify payer evidence gaps and inform integrated evidence planning.
- Partner with external collaborators for PRO development/validation, health state valuation (time trade-off/standard gamble), and patient preference research.
- Lead HTA scientific interactions (e.g., EU HTA JSC, NICE, CADTH), including briefing materials/evidence packages for PROs and MCIDs.
- Support regulatory agency and patient advocacy scientific interactions.
- Analyze patient-relevant outcomes data (with Integrated Evidence Teams) to strengthen value propositions.
- Lead scientific communication (presentations/publications).
- Assess business development opportunities against payer/HTA requirements.
Qualifications & Required/Preferred Skills
- 12+ years pharma industry; 7+ years HEOR (pharma or consulting); 5+ years direct patient-relevant outcomes research.
- Advanced degree in health economics/outcomes research/epidemiology/public health/health services research/pharmacy or related field.
- Deep knowledge of market access, value, and global HTA frameworks.
- Experience developing/executing patient-relevant outcomes strategies meeting payer/HTA needs.
- Experience evaluating/developing/validating PRO measures for regulatory/payer/HTA decisions.
- Experience with HTA submissions/value dossiers/patient-relevant briefing books.
- Proven ability to influence senior cross-functional stakeholders; lead multiple complex initiatives.
- Recognized patient-reported outcomes leader with external visibility.
- External engagement experience with HTA agencies/payers/patient advocacy organizations.
- Rare disease experience preferred; people leadership (talent development) preferred.
