Position Overview
- Develop and execute an integrated communications and advocacy strategy for Gilead Patient Solutions to advance company priorities, support sustainable access to innovation, and strengthen reputation across nearly 140 countries.
- Serve as trusted deputy/strategic thought partner to the Executive Director, Intercontinental Public Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead public affairs strategy for GPS leadership; align communications, advocacy, NGO engagement, and stakeholder outreach.
- Identify emerging themes across markets/stakeholders and translate insights into coordinated strategies.
- Advise senior leaders; provide recommendations and communications guidance.
- Partner cross-functionally (Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Government Affairs, Value & Access, Corporate Comms, Commercial, Medical).
- Lead external communications and proactive executive/CSR-style storytelling; prepare leaders for media and stakeholder engagements.
- Build and sustain relationships with global NGOs/patient organizations/advocacy coalitions; co-create compliant education/capacity initiatives.
- Proactively manage issues/crises; establish protocols; embed reputation management; draft/review external statements and reactive communications.
- Support internal communications alignment (messages, FAQs, toolkits) and enable local activation with global consistency.
- Define KPIs; build dashboards; lead governance and manage budgets/agency performance.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelorβs + 14+ years, or Masterβs + 12+ years, or PhD + 12+ years relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications (selected)
- In-house public affairs/corporate/external affairs in regulated pharma/biotech.
- Reputation/communications/stakeholder engagement and issues management in matrixed environments.
- NGO/patient/advocacy engagement experience; strong executive influencing and written/verbal communications.
- Travel ~30β40%.
Compensation/Benefits (as stated)
- Salary range: $243,100.00β$314,600.00; may include discretionary bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and medical/dental/vision/life insurance.
