Position Overview
- Provide financial leadership and business support for R&D Finance, including consolidated financial planning/reporting, internal controls, and leadership. Serve as strategic business partner to the Vice President Controller or R&D Finance.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead monthly/quarterly/annual close and reporting processes; ensure accurate, timely GAAP and corporate/division/global reporting.
- Develop effective reporting; monitor performance; support contingency plans with clear commentary.
- Partner with internal/external audit teams; complete audit cycles and implement recommendations by due dates.
- Enhance internal controls; ensure compliance with AbbVie financial policies, SOX, and GAAP.
- Proactively lead planning processes (Plan, UPD, LBE, LRP) integrating sales forecast, pricing, and investment resourcing; obtain senior management input to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate division and corporate planning timelines, targets, and presentations; lead finance support for division support organizations.
- Ensure executive-ready planning/reporting deliverables.
- Provide proactive leadership and cross-functional communication with senior management, controllers, and FP&A communities.
- Act as strategic partner to the Vice PresidentโR&D Finance; deliver executive-level outputs.
- Provide analyses for ad hoc/special projects to inform business drivers and strategy.
- Build networks across R&D Finance; identify and develop talent for future leadership roles.
- Support US forecasting cycles and process improvements with DHQ and extended leadership team.
- (As applicable) Partner with Demand Planning/Pricing: monitor US supply stability, ensure equitable allocation, provide insights on purchase/pricing trends.
Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of professionals with direct reports.
Qualifications
Required:
- 15+ years progressive accounting/finance experience
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting or Finance
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Experience leading/motivating teams and delivering on-time results
- Ability to solve problems by identifying issues and analyzing data
- Experience supporting senior operating management; executive presence and ability to challenge status quo
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple functions/divisions
Preferred:
- MBA (Accounting/Finance) and/or CPA
- US Commercial experience and knowledge of financial planning process
- Experience with automated financial systems (e.g., TM1) and mainframe/accounting applications
