Senior Director – Counsel–Alliance Management and Transactions (R&D)

Role: Legal Counsel specializing in R&D and commercial transactions within Lilly's Legal Transactions Center of Excellence. Objectives: Provide strategic legal advice, manage post-execution legal aspects of licenses, collaborations, M&A, and agreements; support Lilly Research Labs in therapeutic areas. Responsibilities: Negotiate and draft complex R&D and commercial agreements, oversee governance, milestones, dispute resolution, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations; advise cross-functional teams and external partners. Requirements: JD from an accredited law school, licensed to practice in the US, minimum 7 years' experience in sophisticated transactions either in law firms or in-house, with a focus on life sciences. Preferred: Scientific degree, understanding of drug development, industry experience, proactive problem-solving, business acumen, ability to manage multiple projects. High-Value: Experience in biotech/pharma transactions, familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP, HIPAA, FCPA), and knowledge of drug development processes.
