Role Summary

The Senior Director, Commercial Operations will serve as a key commercial architect supporting the successful launch and commercial execution of INO‑3107, Inovio’s lead product for Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis. This leader will be responsible for supporting the design, stand up, and scaling of the commercial infrastructure—spanning KPI creation and monitoring, forecasting, analytics, CRM systems, field operations, and commercial process optimization—to ensure a seamless transition from clinical readiness to commercial excellence. This role is based in our Plymouth Meeting, PA office, with an expectation of working on a hybrid schedule. As a strategic member of the commercial team, this role will partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Finance, Supply Chain, and IT to develop the systems, processes, and insights that equip Inovio’s first launch brand for success in the rare disease marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial Strategy & Leadership: Partner with the CCO and leadership team to operationalize commercial strategy aligned with INO‑3107 launch milestones and revenue goals. Develop a scalable infrastructure that supports Inovio’s entry into the commercial market, including field deployment planning, incentive design, and governance frameworks. Lead launch and annual planning cycles, translating organizational priorities into forecasting models, frameworks, and KPI dashboards.
  • Forecasting, Analytics & Insights: Support revenue forecasting, demand modeling, and patient‑flow analytics in collaboration with Finance and Market Access. Develop integrated dashboards to monitor performance across field, brand, patient services, and specialty distribution partners. Drive data‑driven insights on market uptake, payer dynamics, and HCP engagement patterns to guide strategic adjustments.
  • Field Operations & Enablement: In partnership with the Contract Sales Organization (CSO) support field operations infrastructure—including CRM (Salesforce), call planning, territory optimization, and incentive compensation. Partner with Sales Leadership to define sales governance, quota methodology, and data‑driven targeting aligned with the limited RRP prescriber base. In partnership with the Contract Sales Organization (CSO), ensure effective onboarding, training, and field readiness through performance insights, learning tools, and execution dashboards.
  • Systems, Data, and Reporting Infrastructure: Own commercial technology, including CRM, BI platforms, and data integration across finance, distribution, and patient services. Develop and enforce commercial data governance and validation standards. Lead vendor relationships across CRM, analytics, and data aggregation partners to ensure seamless flow of patient‑ and prescriber‑level data.
  • Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Execution: As INOVIO grows, build and lead a high‑performing commercial operations team capable of scaling with Inovio’s commercial evolution. Foster collaboration across Commercial, IT, Finance, and Clinical teams to ensure smooth integration of data and processes. Serve as a commercial operations thought leader—bringing best practices from biotech launches and rare disease environments.
  • Success Factors: Strategic and operational balance—equally capable of designing frameworks and executing details. Strong analytical acumen and commercial intuition specific to rare disease and buy‑and‑bill models. Effective cross‑functional communicator and facilitator of collaboration between science‑driven and commercial teams. Hands‑on builder who thrives in a launch environment without legacy infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Life Sciences, or Analytics; advanced degree (MBA, MS, MPH, PharmD) preferred.
  • Required: Minimum 10–15 years of progressive experience in commercial operations, analytics, or field enablement, preferably within biotech or rare disease.
  • Required: Proven success building and scaling commercial systems in preparation for U.S. product launch.
  • Required: Deep familiarity with CRM (Salesforce preferred), incentive compensation platforms, financial modeling, and business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, etc.).
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable commercial insights.
  • Required: Experience managing third‑party vendors, distribution partners, and specialty pharmacy networks.
  • Required: Strong leadership presence, influencing skills, and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast‑paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, MS, MPH, PharmD).
